Ortogonalidad y aplicaciones. This is the updated notes (December 2023) of a course on the applications of orthogonal polynomials in the theory of random walks as well as in the resolution of the Schrödinger equation using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The course was given on November 2016 at the 1st ORTHONET School.

This is the full text of a seminar given at Departamento de Matemáticas of the Universidad de Zaragoza (Seminario Rubio de Francia , June 5, 1998). This is a survey where it is considered the global properties of zeros of orthogonal polynomials. Special emphasis is given to the information obtained from the three-term recurrence relation. Examples of classical polynomials as well as q-polynomials are included. Any suggestion, remarks etc will be welcome.
